Our Minister

Greg Powell arrived in Castlegar in September 2014 with his partner and family to serve as our minister.

Greg completed his Master of Divinity at Emmanuel College in Toronto in 2014. Prior to responding to his call to congregational ministry, Greg worked for an environmental non-profit and as an environmental engineer. Greg and his family heard Castlegar's hills and trails beckoning, and look forward to many adventures amongst the diversity of Creation.
Greg's particular vocational passions include peace and justice--including climate justice and indigenous rights; spending time with people at critical moments in life and finding meaningful ways--new and old--to express gratitude and to dream of heaven here on earth.
Greg's office hours are Tues-Thurs 9:30am-12:30pm and Fridays 11am-12:30pm.

Our Music Director

Lori McWilliam
began her  musical training with diplomas in teaching and performing through Conversatory Canada (formerly the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music).  She holds Bachelors degrees in both music and education from the University of Toronto and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga University. Besides leading our choir and playing for our Sunday services, she teaches in our local school district.   When not involved with music, Lori enjoys spending time with her husband Terry and her daughters Caleigh and Annie.

Our Secretary

Sarah Brownlee
moved to The Kootenays in June 2016. Her partner Mike and son Anakin are from Alberta and Saskatchewan as well as have lived in Vancouver. She was brought up in the church and has volunteered many years on different committees and as a Sunday School Teacher. Previous jobs have been in Bookkeeping, Property Management with low income and teaching art children classes and ceramics. Her passions include pottery, crafts and  social justice.
During the school year, Sarah is at the church weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11am - 3pm.

Our Accompaniest

Alicia Affolter Liszt plays for the choir and fills in for Lori when she is away. Alicia comes to us with a strong background in church music. She has played and sung in church all her life. And she has a variety of other musical gifts, including playing the trombone in both the Trail Maple Leaf Band and the Swingsations - and occasionally at church!
